1. How do you wash your hair when it’s in braids or a weave?

The same way you’d wash your hair when it’s not in braids or a weave. small amount of shampoo and conditioner, be sure not to scrub to hard on the scalp as it can result to your braids feeling loose (mainly for straight hair)

2. How often do you wash your hair?

Once a week or once a fortnight, people who are more active should wash once a week. Make sure to wash in the mornings and allow to air dry as it can be uncomfortable sleeping with wet hair.

3. What does hair oil do?

Hair oil or moisturisers keep our hair and scalp moist to prevent dandruff or dry scalp. Please DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT put oil on your scalp when having box braids or corn rows and go out in direct sun for a long period of time as it will burn your scalp

4. How do I sleep when my hair is braided?

You MUST cover/ wrap your head with a scarf/ durag or pop a stocking over your head. this is to prevent it from getting messy while you sleep

5. What should I do with my hair BEFORE getting box braids?

Before box braids hair care is different for different textures

If you have straight hair please wash thoroughly, moisturise and come to your appointment with 1 or 2 day unwashed hair (no gel, hair spray or wax)

If you have curly hair wash the day before and moisturise as normal please let it dry.

For very kinky afro hair please wash, moisturise and blow out before attending your appointment to make sectioning easier and pain free

6. How do you keep braids fresh?

You'll thank me when you unravel your braids and your hair is healthy, strong, and long.

  1. Protect Your Hair At Night.

  2. Keep Your Scalp Moist.

  3. Apply moisturizing and sealing product to hair.

  4. Avoid unnatural products when keeping hair moisturized.

  5. Wash your braids once every two weeks.

  6. Avoid constant up-dos.

7. How long should I keep my braids in for?

2 months is recommended duration for box braids to be left in, for straight/ short  hair 5-8 hair 5-8 weeks. Protective styling is meant to be short-term temporary. Stylists recommend protective styling for a month at a time - 2 months maximum. Any longer than that and your new growth will stretch and damage; this completely negates the point of protective styling. Protective styling is to give your fragile ends a break and focus on attaining new growth.

8. What type of hair extensions are used?

Eden Stylz predominantly uses Abuja Darling synthetic braiding extension, From Kenya, great quality, super light and pre feathered. it comes in a range of colours and can also be used for extra length and shorter braids.

It is a hot water finish.

We also use the New York Synthetic braiding extensions for all those bright colours that you all love!
